Jalandhar: Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar won the hockey match dedicated to the 115th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh here at local Burlton Park today.
In a exciting match, Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar defeated Punjab & Sind Bank by 7-2, played under flood lights on the newly constructed six-a-side astroturf hockey ground at the local Surjeet Hockey Stadium. The Surjit Hockey Academy was leading by 4-2 till half time. Sundar Sham (2), Manmeet Singh (2), Sahaj, Ranjot Singh and Gurpreet scored goals for the winning team while Gautam, Jaskaran, Aman Gulati and Raman scored goals for Punjab and Sindh Bank.
Earlier, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Jalandhar-I Jai Inder Singh being chief guest on the match dedicated to the 115th birthday of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, started the match by cutting the cake. In is short speech, Jaspreet Singh said that in today's difficult times, when the youth are falling victim to drugs & moral values are being violated and the youth can learn from the life of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh. He said that instead of wasting their time and energy, the youth should dedicate their lives to contribute to the development of the country and sports.
Meanwhile, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Jalandhar-I Jai Inder Singh also felicitated the players of Surjit Hockey Academy team who won silver medal in 14 years age (girl) category in the district in 'Khedan Vatan Punjab Dian-2022'.
